BolognaFiere Cosmoprof has announced this week a change in the marketing director position for Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), North America’s biggest B2B beauty event.
Longtime marketing director Daniela Ciocan has officially stepped down to pursue other interests in the beauty world, while Liza Rapay, formerly the North American marketing director for Clinique, has stepped up as CPNA's new marketing director. Additionally, CPNA's office has moved from Las Vegas to New York City, where all North America marketing operations and functions will be reported.
Daniela Ciocan has served as Cosmoprof North America’s marketing director for 12 highly successful years. During her tenure, CPNA more than doubled attendee participation and attracted national retailers such as Kohl’s, Barneys New York, Macy’s and Nordstrom, to name a few, that attend the show to discover new beauty trends and products.
Among her achievements, Ciocan developed a number of product showcases including Discover Beauty, Tones of Beauty and Discover Green. She also aimed to assist companies in marketing their products through exhibitions such as the Beauty Pitch Angels. Ciocan has been personally recognized with numerous industry accolades for her work. Under her marketing leadership, CPNA has been recognized as one of the “Fastest-Growing Shows” from Trade Show News Network for 5 consecutive years and the recipient of additional show awards.
“It has been an honor to serve Cosmoprof North America. I am proud of my contributions to the success of the show over the years, and I plan to continue to support the beauty industry in my new endeavors including serving as a producer on the new reality beauty competition “The Look All Stars” on CW and several other TV projects to be announced," Ciocan says. Leaving on a high note, BolognaFiere Cosmoprof expressed its appreciation for Ciocan's work and wished her well in her professional pursuits.
Ciocan will continue to serve on the boards of Cosmetic Executive Women and Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors.
Assuming the role of marketing director immediately, Liza Rapay will report directly to Enrico Zannini, general manger of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof and director of Cosmoprof Worldwide.
Rapay most recently served as marketing director, North America, for Clinique ( a property of The Estee Lauder Companies), where she worked in a number of roles for 13 years gaining in-depth knowledge of the prestige beauty market. She completed the graduate program by scholarship at the Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management. There, she led industry professionals in global research on the future of mass retail. Rapay began her career in publishing, working at Ballantine Books for nearly a decade.
“I am honored to be a part of this organization. I am excited at the opportunity to work with all beauty companies—from start-ups to established brands. This is an amazing platform to connect people in the industry. With the market always evolving, I believe that strong relationships will always be one of the constants necessary to succeed in this business," Rapay says.
Chairman of BolognaFiere SpA, Gianpiero Calzolari, says, “I am delighted to appoint Liza Rapay to head up CPNA. She brings 13 years of prestige beauty experience and a true passion for the beauty industry. We look forward to collaborating with Ms. Rapay as we continue to grow our reputation as the leading B2B beauty trade show.”
