Colorful Success for Beauty Bus's Beauty Drive 2018

Vivid hair color abounded at Beauty Drive 2018, Beauty Bus Foundation's annual fundraiser. Held on Saturday, April 14th, at the Guerin Pavilion at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California, Beauty Bus cofounder Wendy Marantz Levine commented, “Beauty Drive is a chance for our supporters to experience what our clients experience."

And that they did. Attendees got glammed up by undergoing the hair, makeup, nail, braiding, brow and lash services offered to clients and enjoyed a Beauty Bus-style pop-up salon and beauty demos featuring Beauty Bus volunteers and clients. Fun, vibrant and wacky hair, makeup and clothing were all part of the celebration.

The colorful fundraising event was fitting in honoring this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award Winners, Tish and Snooky Bellomo of Manic Panic. The sister duo, also know for their longtime musicianship, sang with Little Shop of Horrors star Ellen Greene. Supporters of Beauty Bus Foundation for many years, the Bellomo sisters also share a personal connection to the organization. “Snooky’s a cancer survivor, and they’re strong women entrepreneurs whose business just turned 40. My sister Melissa would have been 40 in November, so her birthday and the start of Manic Panic coincide. They’re also twin sisters who went through a journey together,” said Levine.

Additionally, delivering a speech to all gathered, Ann Lew shared the impact Beauty Bus had on her family during her husband Scott’s battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). “Beauty Bus made the focus something besides his illness,” she said. “Beauty Bus focused on what was beautiful about Scott. He was worthy of being beautified.”
