On April 28th, ComoProf Center Stage at America’s Beauty Show (ABS) in Chicago will feature Andis Fabulous Fades Competition for the second year in a row. The competition is a licensed professionals-only event designed to give barbers and stylists the chance to showcase their most impressive techniques and designs to create a cutting-edge look using exclusively Andis tools. The top three contestants will receive $500, $400 and $300, respectively.
Competitors will have 30 minutes to complete their haircut, which must remove at least a half-inch of hair. All contestants will be provided with the same Andis tool package, including: blade clipper, trimmer, an assortment of cutting combs, oil, a blade brush and an Andis cape and towel. These haircutting tools are the only ones allowed in the competition; the use of straight edge razors and/or razor blades is strictly prohibited. However, competitors are encouraged to bring their own finishing tools and products including combs, brushes and spray bottles with water since these will not be provided.
A panel of no less than three master barbers with a minimum of 10 years’ experience will judge the competition. After 30 minutes of assessing four main categories—technique, originality, style and tools—worth 10 points each, winners will be announced and awards will be given.
Registration costs $120, which includes a complimentary ticket to ABS and the Andis tool package used during the competition (valued at over $150).
