Kiros Beauty is now representing luxury haircare brand Dominican Magic in the U.S. and internationally. Dominican Magic launched in 2006 and is currently available in 5,000 salons and in mass retailers, such as Target, Rite Aid, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Dominican Magic features natural ingredients inspired by the fruits, plants and vegetables grown in the tropics of the Dominican Republic. The products were created by Gregorio Luciano of Luciano Brothers, a cosmetic formulator chemist with a master’s degree in organic chemistry, who has been studying and improving upon the traditional Dominican hair care regimen. Luciano has been committed to understanding the needs of Dominican hair, which can be a blend of African, European, Spanish and Native American hair. He employs more than 20 years of experience in formulation, process development and automation.
“Our commitment to use native nutrients and botanical extracts ensures [we] work “magic” on hair that has experienced mechanical, thermal, chemical, environmental or aging damage,” says Luciano. “The products not only protect and minimize the effect of these five elements but also lessens the scalp’s propensity to hair loss, resulting in healthy and revitalized strands. Customers with healthy hair benefit by increasing the longevity of the hair’s health.”
The Dominican blowout includes a shampoo, condition and wet rollers set under a hair dryer for 45 minutes, followed by a vigorous round brush blowout to smooth out roller bumps, resulting in super-straight, silky, voluptuous, sexy hair. One major difference in the Dominican blowout versus the traditional blowout is the amount of heat applied to the hair. To prevent hair damage, it requires natural-based heat protection products to restore hair shaft and keep hair moisturized.
Created in his New York laboratory, Luciano applied his vast knowledge to design a regimen that uses Dominican Republic ingredients to treat and repair naturally dry, processed and color-treated hair. Some of the inspirations include tropical avocado, coconut, aloe vera, wheat, cinnamon, garlic and rosemary, all of which have been used for generations by native Dominicans for hair treatment and other health ailments.
Dominican Magic is a comprehensive brand with four distinct categories:
- Dominican Magic Nourishing Natural Treatment consists of natural botanicals rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and hydrolyzed proteins. It can be used as the aftercare line for customers who color or process their hair (relax or keratin) and those who want to improve the overall health of their hair regardless of texture. The line includes shampoo, conditioner, Silk Shine Hair Serum, Thermal Protector Hair Spray, Defining Hair Gel and Revitalizing Hair Mask.
- Dominican Magic Natural Botanical Extracts Hair Follicle Anti-Aging Treatment contains a natural botanical complex and is designed to increase the moisture and blood circulation of damaged or balding hair. It works to strengthen the hair follicles and slow down the aging process, also minimizing premature hair loss. The line includes Scalp Applicator (12 Pack and Single Treatment), Smoothing Balm, shampoo and conditioner.
- Dominican Magic Natural Botanical Extracts Ultra Straight Protein Infused Treatment is a formaldehyde-free, wheat-protein based treatment that straightens and repairs hair, providing long-lasting conditioning to all hair types, including color-treated and previously relaxed hair. Its mild process uses unique Urea/Sulfite active ingredients along with a protein-based Silicon Complex that activates with heat to straighten and revitalize hair strands. The kit (for professional use) includes a Clarifying Shampoo, Straightening Treatment, Shampoo, Leave-in Conditioner and Thermal Protector.
- Definitive Color Rinse is for professional use. It’s a semi-permanent hair color made without alcohol, peroxide or ammonia, for radiant, shining color. It works to leave hair silky with lasting color and maintains color consistency during the application, and is available in 16 shades.
Kiros Beauty is led by Juan Valencia, an import/export facilitator agent who has been working with multicultural beauty markets, including wholesalers, beauty supply chains, supermarkets, pharmacies and importers of beauty products.
