Skinfix, a Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada-based supplier that markets itself as the expert in natural, clinically-proven, skincare solutions for the whole family and debuted its brand in the United States last year, has merged with SweetSpot LABS, a Culver City, California-based line of feminine skin care designed by women for women that uses natural ingredients, Beauty Store Business learned at the 2015 Natural Products Expo West March 5-8 inside the Anaheim Convention Center and surrounding hotels in Anaheim, California.
SweetSpot LABS, which typically exhibits its natural-beauty products in its own booth at the largest and best-attended natural-products trade show in the United States, was exhibiting inside the Skinfix booth this year. It was also the first time that Skinfix was exhibiting at NPEW.
Currently, Skinfix—which is dermatologist-tested and -recommended—is available at all U.S. Target stores and at Target.com. It initially launched at Target and Target.com with three products in the fourth quarter of 2014. Skinfix Body Repair Balm, Hand Repair Cream and Daily Lotion keep skin healthy by immediately relieving the symptoms of extreme dryness and eczema and minimizing uncomfortable flare-ups. All three SKUs are free of fragrance, parabens, phthalates and steroids.
All Skinfix products are based on an original skin-soothing formula created more than 150 years ago by pharmacist Thomas Dixon in Yorkshire, England. As generations passed, Dixon’s descendants immigrated to Canada, bringing his “miracle paste” recipe with them and selling it in their local community. Dixon’s tried-and-tested, skin-calming, barrier-building formula became the foundation for Skinfix, which debuted with new packaging in Canada last fall.
SweetSpot LABS—which is clinically-tested and gynecologist-recommended—offers products such as Spot Fresh! Gentle Wash, Spot Refresh! On-the-go Wipettes, and 100% Love It! Moisturizer. SkinFix will soon be launching these products in three new collections, including Citrus Galbanum, Geranium Lavender and Unscented. (See an image of the three new Spot Fresh! Gentle Wash products above.)
"This is a tremendous opportunity to shake up the feminine-care market and build on the cult following of SweetSpot LABS products," said Amy Gordinier-Regan, Skinfix CEO. "A women's sweet spot is one of the most sensitive areas of the body, and using everyday body washes or bar soaps that have the wrong pH, stripping cleansers and glycerin can upset the natural, healthy chemistry."
SweetSpot LABS launched 11 years ago with one of the first pH-balanced feminine skincare lines. Since then, SweetSpot LABS has created a strong following of women who want a luxurious and convenient skincare routine for their most intimate area. SweetSpot LABS products don't include glycerin, sulfates, parabens, alcohol, gluten, soy or dairy.
Francine Krenicki, Skinfix senior vice president of product development, added, "We are excited to build on the SweetSpot LABS products, and the new collections are infused with natural essential-oil fragrances that are fresh, clean and are a more upscale offering than what's currently in the market. The heart of each fragrance is citrus, which fits in perfectly with the right pH profile, won't contribute to irritation and has the ability to naturally deodorize."
Skinfix officials also noted that they will be refreshing the SweetSpot LABS brand and will continue to evolve the natural-beauty line to meet the feminine-care needs of today's women.
