With roughly 4,000 attendees, The Makeup Show took over The Revel Fulton Market in Chicago, October 5-6, 2019. Open to makeup artists, hair stylists, cosmetologists, estheticians, students, brand executives and more, The Makeup Show is designed to inspire, educate and build community among beauty professionals. The two-day event featured numerous launches and trending products from top brands such as Smashbox Cosmetics, Mehron, Mario Badescu Skincare and Danessa Myricks Beauty, to name a few.

Shelly Taggar, owner of The Makeup Show, and James Vincent, the show’s director of education and artist relations, walked the show floor to see what the pros were buying, and discover the buzziest products grabbing attendees’ attention. Taggar and Vincent spotlighted six innovative indie brands – The Mist Shield for hair protection; Lipstuck, to set lipstick; Yubi for easy and hygenic makeup application; Kasha Lashes lash applicator, Dermaflash for skin smoothing; and LippieBook for organizing lippies.

In all, The Makeup Show Chicago featured over 70 beauty brands.

The Makeup Show Chicago also featured educational opportunities as part of the overall experience. Seminars and main stage presentations gave artists the opportunity to learn tips, tricks and techniques for career advancement. Panel speakers covered a range of topics and themes such as innovation, trends and signature celebrity style. For instance, speakers Danessa Myricks and Felicia Walker delivered a talk on skin care in the digital age to an overpacked room.
