Wahl Professional, a company known for its innovative and trusted products in the men's grooming category since 1919, now has something new to offer to professionals in the industry. Wahl is excited to announce that they will be the host of the first-ever, online-exclusive battle of the barbers, which will give three talented winners the ultimate in bragging rights.
Lance Wahl, Wahl Clipper Corporation's global vice president of professional products, says, "We're excited to be the first professional clipper company to ever host our own online barber battle competition."
The battle is open to U.S. professionals registered in the Wahl Ambassador program. The Wahl Barber Battle beings on June 1. To enter for a chance to win, barbers and stylists need to submit a 15-minute or shorter video that demonstrates their mastery and skills in three different categories: a Bald Fade, Pompadour and a creative cut showcasing an individual's unique artistic ability. For those entering, Wahl recommends working with a videographer if it's within your budget to create a professional-looking video, and they stress the importance of choosing the right models and showcasing how your style is one-of-a-kind and authentic.
W.E.A.T. team member Rick Morin says, “This is an opportunity of a lifetime. W.E.A.T. members are always asked how others can join the team, and now’s your chance. Show us what you’re made of.” He adds that the creative cut can be anything the contestant wants in terms of the cut, color and design, which means artists can truly get creative and express their personalities.
The grand prize winner of the competition will be awarded a one-year honorary position on the Wahl Education & Artistic Team (W.E.A.T.) as well as the complete 5 Star line of clippers, trimmers and shavers, and a Wahl hat, cape and other merchandise (valued at $1,290). The second place winner will also receive three clippers, 3 trimmers, a finishing tool and more (valued at $615). The third place winner will receive a prize package valued at $285. Entries must be received by June 30.
“This competition will take some artists out of their comfort zones," Morin says. "But, it’s a chance for contestants to create remarkable cuts and show what they could bring to W.E.A.T."
