Cosmoprof Asia 2016 Sees Record Numbers

Cosmoprof Asia 2016 concluded with record numbers. The event, which took place mid-November, hosted a record-breaking 650 new companies, taking its total number of exhibitors to 2,698, from 49 countries. Of that number, 1,966 finished cosmetics companies exhibited in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and 732 companies, from 19 countries, exhibited at the AsiaWorld-Expo for packaging ingredients and processing equipment.

Visitor numbers increased 21 percent over 2015, totaling 76,818, as attendees from 129 countries and regions combed the show floor. Visitors included 79 international buyer delegations from more than 21 countries and regions across Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“With [a] strong international representation and presence, Cosmoprof Asia remains indisputably [the] most important networking opportunity in Asia Pacific for the beauty industry,” said Michael Duck, executive vice president of UBM Asia.

Cosmoprof Asia also hosted 24 national and group pavilions from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, with inaugural pavilions from Bulgaria and Latvia.

Additional highlights from the show:

  • Innovation Circle Awards, organized in partnership with online trend-intelligence agency Beautystreams, recognized the most innovative packaging, design and formula. The jury panel included AmorePacific, L’Oréal and NYX Cosmetics. The winners were displayed on the show floor.
  • Lipstick Factory gave live demonstrations on the manufacturing process of luxury lipstick. Eight thousand complimentary pieces of Cosmoprof Limited-Edition Lipstick were distributed to attendees during the show. The Lipstick Factory was the brainchild of Italian exhibitors Brivaplast (packaging), Chromavis (formulation) and Vetraco (machinery), and was supported by the Italian Ministry of the Economic Development and Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia – Personal Care Association.
  • Extraordinary Gallery displayed a selected group of coveted and innovative multicultural brands from supply chain and finished products. Special-edition nail lacquers in three unique colors and textures were created by Centdegrés (consulting agency), Groupe Pochet (glass maker), Fiabila (nail polish) and Beautystreams and was gifted to visitors.
  • Boutique, in its third edition, offered attendees an opportunity to shop for charity. Attendees picked up travel-size products for donation to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.
  • Educational sessions offered attendees more than 30 opportunities to learn from a host of international experts.

Cosmoprof Asia will return Nov. 14-16, 2017, at AsiaWorld-Expo, and from Nov. 15-17, at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
