Kim Henderson has been announced as the new executive editor for Beauty Store Business magazine.
Henderson comes from the natural products industry, having served as editor of Healthy Living magazine, a national publication distributed primarily in health food stores. Over the course of a decade, Henderson drove Healthy Living’s editorial to support the success of both natural health retailers and natural health brands with news stories featuring natural beauty products, nutritional supplements and green living products. Additionally, she initiated celebrity health cover stories and features that elevated the magazine’s profile, attracted new advertisers and eventually broadened distribution to conventional and bookstore newsstands.
Henderson brings a business owner’s perspective and marketing insight to the role having run her own successful content marketing business, creating digital value content for her clients’ social media channels. Additionally, she understands the unique challenges facing retail store chains, from serving as the communications manager to the CEO of musical instrument giant, Guitar Center, Inc.
A seasoned editor and writer, Kim has edited numerous health and environmental books, written for health and wellness publications and is the author of the award-winning book 50 Simple Steps to Save the World’s Rainforests (Freedom Press, 2012), the first environmental book to connect smart consumer choices with rainforest conservation.
“The business savvy, artistry and innovation I’ve already observed in the beauty industry are impressive. Along with our talented team, I plan to continue to build on the Beauty Store Business tradition of providing relevant, quality editorial that includes industry news, trends, products and business information, with perhaps a few surprises. I’m looking forward to meeting the people we write for and about in the months ahead,” Henderson says.
Henderson succeeds J. Joshua Placa.
