As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration and co-sponsors are hosting numerous training webinars from May 4 through 7. The webinars cover a variety of common business-topic areas regarding pay, digital footprints, new chip card payment technologies, benefits packages and online payment strategies.

The week, in part, is being highlighted by small business events in Miami/Boca Raton, Florida, Los Angeles, San Antonio, New York City and Washington D.C., where national winners are being recognized and awarded. Additionally, recognition events throughout SBA’s 10 regions and 68 districts will be held throughout the months of May and June. Click here to register.

Furthermore, National Small Business Week awards will be presented to recipients on Friday, May 8, from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m., in the South Court Auditorium at The White House. The purpose of the awards ceremony is to recognize top small businesses, individuals, organizations and leaders from across the country who won a competitive nomination and selection process to be recognized as national winners in categories ranging from Exporter of the Year to Small Business Investment Company of the Year.

Fashion designer and philanthropist Rachel Roy will keynote as special guest in a Q&A on entrepreneurialism. Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet of the U.S. Small Business Administration and member of President Obama’s cabinet, will announce a National Small Business Person of the Year from a pool of six finalists. Winners represent a diverse range of sectors, geographies, demographics and represent the major role that small businesses and entrepreneurs contribute to the growing economy.

Also joining Contreras-Sweet are treasury deputy secretary Sarah Bloom Raskin; Washington, D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser; director of the National Economic Council and assistant to the President for Economic Policy Jeff Zients; and Kauffman Foundation Acting president and CEO Wendy Guillies. The SBA has posted the complete list of finalists and winners.
